Ukraine and EU: Defence Ministers’ meeting in Brussels

The situation in Ukraine, the European Union’s (EU) defence readiness, and developments regarding the EU’s Rapid Deployment Capability (EU RDC) and the strategic review process of Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) are expected to be discussed at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in its Defence Ministers’ configuration on Tuesday in Brussels. Cyprus’s Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, will participate in the meeting.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Defence, Mr Palmas is travelling today to the Belgian capital to attend the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in its Defence Ministers’ configuration, scheduled for 19 November.

The release adds that the meeting will discuss the situation in Ukraine, EU defence readiness, and ongoing developments concerning the EU RDC and the PESCO strategic review process.

Additionally, it notes that Mr Palmas will attend the European Defence Agency (EDA) Steering Board meeting at the Defence Ministers’ level.
