Turkey is expected to deploy six F-16 fighter jets to occupied Cyprus today, Monday (09/03), according to Sky News, citing Turkish NTV reports.
Security mission stated
Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Department of the breakaway administration, Askin Meseli, told international media that the aircraft are being sent for security reasons and that the mission will not affect civilian flights.
The ministry also noted that further military actions may be taken depending on evolving regional developments and Ankara’s security assessments.
“Additional measures will continue to be implemented if deemed necessary, based on ongoing evaluations,” the statement said.

Greek and French leaders visit Cyprus
The deployment coincides with the arrival of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and French President Emmanuel Macron, who are visiting Cyprus to meet with President Nikos Christodoulides.
The three leaders will hold discussions in Paphos focused on regional security and defence cooperation. Mitsotakis’ visit forms part of Greece’s ongoing defence support for Cyprus.
Greece reinforces Cypriot defence
