President Donald Trump delivered zero-tolerance message on illegal immigration in first-year address, claiming tariff imposition brought more money to US economy than anyone imagined.
Opening speech, Trump asserted no illegal immigrant entered US in last seven months. “For seven months, no illegal immigrant entered our country – something everyone said was absolutely impossible,” directing criticism at predecessor Joe Biden’s border management.
“Eleven months ago, I inherited chaos and I’m fixing it,” Trump stated. “After just one year, we’ve achieved more than anyone could imagine,” Trump declared, per ABC News.
Over 1.4 million armed forces members will receive “warrior dividend” – $1,776 checks already en route, Trump announced.
“Brought in far more money than anyone believed due to tariffs,” he added.
Cost reductions, FED change
Trump stated efforts to reduce food, medicine, energy costs; attacking giant health insurance companies to lower healthcare expenses.
He will announce next FED chair, “someone believing in much lower interest rates”, and next year, “most aggressive housing reform plans in American history.”
America stronger than ever
“Nation strong. America respected. Country returned stronger than ever,” Trump declared. “Ready for economic boom world never seen.”
Divided opinion on economic policy
Quinnipiac University poll published Wednesday (17/12) shows most Americans view economy as top issue; 40% approve Trump’s handling.
Overall, 40% approve Trump’s performance, 54% disapprove.
