Trial of 5 Greek Cypriots continues in occupied north

Date:

The trial of five Greek Cypriots, who remain unlawfully detained in the occupied areas, continued on Wednesday morning before the so-called “military court” in northern Nicosia.

According to reports, the hearing resumed at 10:00 with the testimony of additional prosecution witnesses. It is expected that two more witnesses will be called, including the case’s “investigator.”

The trial of the 5 Greek Cypriots concerns charges of allegedly violating a so-called “military zone” and entering the occupied areas “illegally.”

A separate hearing, linked to additional charges of so-called “illegal entry into property,” is scheduled to continue on Friday at the “district court” of Trikomo.

The Republic of Cyprus has repeatedly condemned the arrests, describing them as unlawful and politically motivated.
