Police are investigating the circumstances and cause of death of a three-year-and-nine-month-old boy in Nicosia on Saturday afternoon. As part of the investigation, the child’s parents, a 32-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, have been arrested.
At around 6:15 p.m., the child was found injured on the ground-floor area of an apartment building in Nicosia. Police officers and an ambulance crew attended the scene, with the child being transported to Nicosia General Hospital, where he died at around 6:50 p.m.
According to information currently under investigation, the child had been inside the sixth-floor apartment where he lived with his parents and his 18-month-old sibling when, under circumstances that remain under investigation, he is believed to have fallen to the ground-floor area of the building.
Court warrants were subsequently issued for the arrest of both parents. They were arrested and taken into custody to assist with the police investigation.
The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case.
