Cyprus food exports were prominently featured at the “Taste of Europe” event held on 16 April at Europe House & Simfonia in London, with the country participating through a national pavilion organised by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the London Chamber of Commerce.
The event was organised by the European Union Delegation in London as part of the “Enjoy – It’s from Europe” campaign, bringing together EU member states to promote high-quality European products and culinary diversity.
Strong focus on trade and gastronomy
The initiative aimed to strengthen commercial relations, promote food exports and highlight the richness of European gastronomy.
The programme included a panel discussion on food security and geopolitics, alongside a food and beverage exhibition and a series of tasting masterclasses.
The event was inaugurated by Pedro Serrano, EU Ambassador, and Dr Kyriakos Kouros, High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus.
High interest in Cypriot pavilion
The Cypriot national pavilion attracted strong visitor interest, receiving positive feedback for its wide range of traditional products.
Cyprus food exports presented at the event included Commandaria and other Cypriot wines, zivania, halloumi, soushoukos, honey, aromatic herbs, loukoumi, traditional rusks, carob syrup, grape must syrup, spoon sweets, rosewater, juices, olive oil, potatoes and kolokasi.
Organisers noted that the pavilion helped reinforce awareness of Cypriot food among international trade professionals attending the event.
Masterclass highlights Cypriot products
A key highlight of the event was a masterclass on pairing European wines, including Commandaria, with British cheeses, presented by food expert Ned Palmer.
The session showcased how Cypriot food can complement international gastronomy and strengthen cross-market culinary connections.
Strong international attendance
More than 400 professional visitors attended the event, supporting efforts to enhance trade relations and promote European and British gastronomic ties.
Officials said the strong turnout reflects growing international interest in Cypriot products and wider European food products.
Government support for exports
The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry said it continues to actively support initiatives that promote Cyprus food exports and strengthen their presence in international markets.
The ministry underlined its commitment to boosting the outward orientation of Cypriot products and expanding export opportunities abroad.
