Tourism set for another record year – Soaring first four months

Date:

During the January–April 2025 period, Cyprus achieved the highest ever number of visitor arrivals in the country’s tourism history, according to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism – with a record also set for winter tourism.

The strong performance in tourist arrivals in the first four months confirms expectations for yet another impressive year and highlights the resilience of Cypriot tourism amid global uncertainty caused by trade and geopolitical tensions.

The results not only remain positive but, according to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, mark a new historic record.

In a Facebook post referencing the latest figures from the Statistical Service, the Ministry noted that the period from January to April 2025 saw the best performance in visitor arrivals ever recorded for this timeframe.

Backing this up with specific figures and charts, the Ministry revealed that tourist arrivals increased by 15.6% compared to the same period last year, and by an impressive 121% compared to ten years ago.

Comparative year-on-year increases in arrivals were as follows:

  • 2025 vs 2024: +15.6%
  • 2025 vs 2023: +17.5%
  • 2025 vs 2022: +62.0%
  • 2025 vs 2019: +26.0%
  • 2025 vs 2015: +121.0%

It is worth noting that last year’s total tourist arrivals surpassed 4 million for the first time, setting a historic record.

In the same post, the Ministry highlighted that April 2025 also set a new all-time monthly record, with tourist arrivals exceeding 400,000 for the first time ever in April.

According to the figures, the top-performing tourist markets for the first four months of the year were:

  • United Kingdom: 30.7% of total arrivals
  • Israel: 15.6%
  • Poland: 9.8%
  • Germany: 6.7%
  • Sweden: 2.3%

Winter tourism boom

The Ministry also highlighted a surge in winter tourism. From November 2024 to April 2025, there were 1,178,330 tourist arrivals – the highest number ever recorded for this period. Over a three-year span, arrivals for the November–April period rose by 51%, and over a ten-year span, by 122%.

Tourism revenues are also showing a positive trend. In 2024, revenue from tourism exceeded €3 billion for the first time, reaching €3.209 billion compared to €2.991 billion in 2023, an increase of 7.3%.

For the first two months of 2025, where data is available, tourism revenue is estimated at €148.9 million, compared to €110.3 million in the same period of 2024 – a 35% increase.
