TOM alerts public to hazardous vehicles and parts in Cyprus

Date:

The Road Transport Department (TOM) has warned the public about dangerous vehicles and parts, including trucks, vans, light commercial vehicles, motorhomes, cars, and light passenger trucks.

The alert follows information from the Consumer Protection Service during the fifth week of 2026, shared via the EU Safety Gate system for non-food hazardous products.

Suppliers must act

TOM urges manufacturers, representatives, distributors, importers, and sellers who supplied these products in Cyprus to notify the department immediately.

Suppliers must recall all affected products according to the law. Authorities may take enforcement measures if suppliers fail to comply.

Guidance for consumers

Consumers who own affected vehicles or components should contact the manufacturer, representative, or distributor for instructions. They should check their vehicle registration certificate for production range, model type, and serial number to verify if their vehicle is affected.

Consumers should stop using any hazardous parts immediately and return them to the point of purchase while informing the seller.

If suppliers refuse to act, consumers should submit a written complaint through the Consumer Protection Service website.

Further information

Consumers can contact the TOM directly or email [email protected] for guidance. They can also find more details on hazardous products on the Safety Gate website using each product’s alert number.
