Three people have been arrested in connection with the Aglantzia school attack that left a 14-year-old student and his father injured, police said on Wednesday.
The suspects — aged 53, 18, and 16, all of Syrian origin — were arrested under court warrants in relation to the case of assault causing actual bodily harm at a secondary school in Platy Aglantzia on 26 October 2025.
After being charged in writing, all three were released to be summoned later before the court. The provisions of the Children’s Law were followed in the case of the 16-year-old.
The Nicosia CID is continuing its investigation.
The incident took place last Saturday when a 14-year-old pupil was beaten by another youth after refusing to hand over money. When the boy’s father learned of the assault and demanded an explanation, the attacker allegedly returned accompanied by other young men and his own father.
The group reportedly assaulted the pupil’s father with particular violence, injuring his face and ribs after he confronted them about the unprovoked attack on his son.
