The International Quantum Nicosia Marathon will take place on Sunday, with the participation of 4,000 runners.
To ensure the smooth running of the event and minimise inconvenience to the public, traffic arrangements will be in place.
According to the organisers, on Saturday, 7 December, from 4:00 pm, and on Sunday, 8 December, from 6:00 am until 1:00 pm at the latest, the following roads in Nicosia will be closed to traffic due to the charity running events of the Quantum Nicosia Marathon:
Saturday closures:
- Mikis Theodorakis Street (formerly Mousiou Street) will close from 16:00.
Sunday closures (Marathon, Half-Marathon, and Stelios Kyriakides 7.7-mile race):
- Mikis Theodorakis Street
- Kinyra Street up to the intersection with Nehru Street
- Paphos Street
- Rigenis Street to Solomou Square
- Kostakis Pantelidis Street
- Konstantinos Palaiologos Street
- Nikiforos Fokas Street
- Athinas Street to the intersection of Vasilios Georgiou B and Pouliou Kapota
- Christakis Christofi Street
- Aigeos Street from the intersection with Christakis Christofi
- Archbishop Makarios III Avenue (Pallouriotissa) to the intersection with Agios Ilarionos Street
- Agios Ilarionos Street to the Bata Roundabout (only the lane towards Aglantzia will close)
- Ilarios & Ch. Samaras Roundabout
- Sopaz Roundabout
- Andreas Zakos Avenue
- Ammochostos Avenue
- Ammochostos Avenue and Larnacos Street intersection (only the lane towards the University of Cyprus will close)
- University Avenue, Larnacos & G. Kranidioti Roundabout
- Athalassa Avenue and Nikandros Papaminas & K022 (Kalamon Street) intersection
- Athalassa Avenue & Archbishop Makarios III entrance to Geri
- Return route from Geri to Athalassa Park
- Athalassa Avenue, Nikandros Papaminas & K022 Kalamon Street (closed to traffic until the Karaiskakio Foundation traffic lights)
- Karaiskakio – Athalassa Park entrance (parking will also remain closed)
- Athalassa Park exit at Small Parking (parking will also remain closed)
- Athalassa Avenue (E101) to the highway.
Sunday closures (5km race):

- Omirou Street
- Stasinos Avenue (only the lane from Omirou to the traffic lights at Vasilios Georgiou B intersection will close)

Organisers’ message:
The Organising Committee, representing local authorities, apologises for the inevitable inconvenience and encourages the public to join this major charity sports celebration in Nicosia. The public is urged to exercise understanding and comply with temporary road signs and instructions from the Nicosia Traffic Police.
