The professions of pilot and flight attendant have earned the title of “dream careers,” according to a new global survey analysing the most popular Google searches.
According to Lifo, the survey conducted by financial services platform Remitly revealed that the question “how to become a pilot” was the most frequently searched query in 186 countries in 2024, with over 432,360 searches.
The pilot profession emerged as the most popular in countries such as the Czech Republic, Egypt, and Slovakia. Remitly noted that the dream of stepping into the cockpit remains alive for thousands around the world.
Lawyers ranked second with 393,380 global searches, while related professions such as prosecutor and judge were ranked eighth and tenth, respectively.
Police officers claimed the third spot with 272,000 searches, marking a 440% increase compared to two years ago. Pharmacists (fourth place) and nurses (fifth place) followed, with the survey attributing their popularity to the admiration they gained during the pandemic.
The desire to become a YouTuber remains strong, taking 13th place globally with 171,840 searches. However, searches for this profession have declined by 11% compared to 2022, which may change if TikTok is banned, Remitly commented.
In the United States, the most popular profession was flight attendant, ranking 17th globally with 154,810 searches.
