New Kalavasos bridge too low for fire trucks

Date:

The newly constructed bridge in Kalavasos is 20 centimetres lower than planned, making it impossible for fire trucks to pass through in case of an emergency.

Fire Department raises concerns

Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis spoke to local media, highlighting the issue and expressing concerns about the impact on emergency response times.

“There is indeed a problem with the bridge’s height, which affects the passage of certain fire trucks. As the Fire Service, we have done our duty by informing the relevant government and other involved departments. This issue must be resolved, as the unobstructed passage of fire trucks is crucial for the community of Kalavasos and the surrounding mountainous areas,” Kettis stated.

Next steps and community impact

The Fire Service has taken the necessary steps to escalate the issue to state authorities, but concerns remain about emergency preparedness in the region. The situation has raised questions about planning and construction oversight, with community members calling for immediate corrective measures.
