Fresh from a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival, The Cut of Her Jib is coming to Cyprus this November, ahead of a UK tour in 2027.
Written by multi-award-winning Scottish writer and performer Kathleen Ruddy, the dark comedy has earned strong reviews during its Fringe run and was featured on three Fringe hit lists.
A dark comedy with plenty of bite
Described as a gin-soaked dark comedy, The Cut of Her Jib combines humour, mystery and observations on class, marriage and middle age.
The production has received four- and five-star reviews from several publications. The List described it as “a certified Fringe banger”, while another review praised Ruddy’s writing as “a funny, joyful and cathartic gem”.
The Edinburgh Guide highlighted the play’s observations on “class, marriage and middle age”, while LouReviews described it as “a razor-sharp dark comedy wrapped inside a mystery”.
Other reviews have praised the performances, comic timing and chemistry between the cast, with Pillow Talk calling it a study in “raw female midlife rage”.
Kathleen Ruddy brings an established comedy pedigree
Ruddy is the writer behind a number of award-winning productions, including Sex, Chips and Ouzo, Glasgow Hard Tickets, Death of a Playboy, The Devil Wears Primark, Spare Ribs and Check Your Coupon.
Her previous work has also received recognition from UK and Cypriot publications, with The Scotsman describing her as a “star writer and performer” and praising her comic writing and observational style.
The Cyprus Mail has previously highlighted Ruddy’s sharp humour and her ability to create characters based on observations of everyday life.
The Cut of Her Jib comes to three Cyprus cities
