Temperatures hit 30°C today – cooler weather and rain coming

Increasing cloud cover across Cyprus

The Cyprus weather forecast indicates that a weak low pressure system is affecting the region, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Today, periods of increased high cloud cover are expected across the island, with generally mild and stable conditions prevailing for most areas.

Winds and temperatures remain mild

Winds will initially be variable and light at around 3 Beaufort, gradually turning mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, remaining light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The sea state will be slightly rough at times.

Temperatures are expected to rise to around 30°C inland, 27°C in southern and eastern coastal areas, 25°C in western and northern coastal regions, and 23°C in the higher mountains.

Night-time conditions turn cloudy

Tonight, the weather forecast shows mainly cloudy conditions due to medium and high cloud cover.

Winds will continue from the south-west to north-west, light and occasionally locally moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while the sea will remain slightly rough.

Temperatures will drop to around 16°C inland, 17°C along the coast, and 10°C in higher mountainous areas.

Showers expected mid-week

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the Cyprus weather forecast indicates periods of locally increased cloud cover.

During midday and early afternoon hours, isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected, mainly affecting mountainous areas and the eastern half of the island.

Temperature drop followed by recovery

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly on Wednesday, falling well below seasonal averages.

However, according to the Cyprus weather forecast, a gradual increase in temperature is expected through to Friday.
