Temperatures climb to 37°C as rain remains possible in mountainous areas

Cyprus weather will remain mostly clear today, although locally increased cloud cover is expected to develop during the afternoon.

A seasonal low-pressure system is beginning to affect the region, while southwesterly to northwesterly winds will blow at weak to moderate levels of 3 to 4 Beaufort. During the afternoon, winds in windward coastal areas are expected to strengthen to 5 Beaufort. Sea conditions will be slight.

Temperatures reach 37°C inland

Temperatures are expected to rise to 37°C inland, around 29°C on the western coast, approximately 32°C along the remaining coastal areas and 26°C in the higher mountain regions.

Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear. Winds will continue from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while the sea will remain slight.

Temperatures overnight will drop to 18°C inland, around 20°C along coastal areas and 15°C in the higher mountains.

Rain and thunderstorms possible later this week

On Thursday, the weather is expected to remain mostly clear with periods of increased cloud cover during the afternoon.

On Friday and Saturday afternoons, cloud development may bring isolated showers or thunderstorms, mainly over mountainous areas and inland regions.

Temperatures are expected to gradually decrease through Saturday, returning to levels close to seasonal averages.
