Police sustained targeted preventive patrols last night with bolstered presence at key urban spots, aiming to avert serious crimes, protect citizens, and maintain public order.
These police night-time patrols arrests yielded nine detentions for various offences.
Breakdown by district
In Nicosia, two arrests: one for illegal stay, one for fine warrant.
Limassol saw two for domestic violence cases.
Paphos logged five: two for assault causing actual bodily harm, one illegal stay, one illegal employment, one small quantity of drugs.
Extensive vehicle and venue checks
Over 220 vehicles stopped for checks, with more than 290 passengers screened. Officers inspected 20 premises to deter and suppress violations.
Traffic controls produced 92 citations for violations. Of 80 alcohol tests on drivers, one led to a report. Three vehicles seized in road offence probes.
