Strong winds with brief mountain showers

Date:

Mainly clear weather in Cyprus is expected today, though localised cloud formations during the early afternoon may bring isolated showers over mountainous areas, according to the official forecast.

Winds will initially be light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, blowing south-westerly to north-westerly, and locally variable in the morning. In the afternoon, winds are expected to strengthen to 5 Beaufort, particularly along the southern coast. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough.

Temperatures will rise to 36°C inland, around 30°C on the western and south-western coasts, about 33°C on other coastal regions, and 26°C in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, though low cloud cover is expected intermittently, especially along the western coast. Later in the night, low clouds may also develop over the eastern half of the island. Winds will gradually shift to north-westerly to north-easterly and weaken to 2 to 3 Beaufort. The sea will become calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 21°C inland and along the coast, and to 16°C in the mountains.

Saturday’s forecast suggests mainly clear skies, though some clouds developing over the mountains in the afternoon could lead to isolated showers. On Sunday and Monday, the weather will remain predominantly clear.

No significant change in temperature is expected through Monday, with conditions staying close to the seasonal average.
