Police make arrests over theft cases in Protaras

Two individuals, a 51-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, have been arrested in connection with a series of burglary and theft cases in the Protaras area, police said on Thursday.

The arrests form part of the ongoing Protaras burglary investigation into multiple break-ins reported between 14 and 16 April.

Break-in linked to stolen AirPods

According to the Cyprus Police, a 37-year-old resident reported that his home in Protaras had been broken into, with cash and two pairs of AirPods worth around €900 stolen.

Investigators said that a tracking signal from the stolen AirPods helped officers locate and identify the suspects in the Ayia Napa area.

Police confirmed that the two suspects were arrested at Paphos International Airport while attempting to leave the country.

Authorities said the pair are believed to be linked to at least four burglary cases in Protaras during the same period.

Wider investigation ongoing

Further investigations revealed that the 51-year-old suspect is also linked to around ten additional burglary and theft cases in Paralimni, allegedly committed between 2023 and 2025. The suspects are expected to appear before the Famagusta District Court for a detention order.

The case remains under investigation by the Famagusta CID.
