Parliament wraps up the three-day debate on the Cyprus 2026 state budget today, culminating in the voting process. Discussions resume at 10:00 AM.
The Cyprus 2026 state budget projects primary expenditures of €10.7 billion, up €508 million or 5.0% from last year. Development spending rises 4.7% compared to 2025, while social benefits increase 6.7%, covering education, health, and welfare.
Finance Minister Makis Keravnos expressed confidence that Parliament will approve the budget today, enabling implementation from the new year.
Balanced growth and crisis readiness
Keravnos described it as a balanced, growth-oriented budget prepared for crises in a volatile economic and political environment.
Key priorities include maintaining a primary surplus, controlling public sector employment, reducing public debt as a GDP percentage medium-term, advancing green transition and digital transformation, completing ‘Recovery and Resilience Plan’ reforms and investments, and executing EU-funded projects.
