Spiritual leader GURUDEV Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to lead meditation and cultural programs in Cyprus

Date:

World-renowned Spiritual leader and humanitarian Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar—affectionately known to millions as GURUDEV—is set to visit Cyprus from November 3 to 5, 2026, bringing a message of inner peace, happiness, and human connection to the Mediterranean island nation.

The three-day visit will feature two special gatherings in Limassol, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience guided meditation, uplifting music, ancient wisdom, and meaningful reflection.

The first gathering, “Satsang with Gurudev,” will take place on Tuesday, November 3, at Parklane Resort in Limassol, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. The evening will feature sacred chants, devotional music known as bhajans, collective meditation, and timeless wisdom.

The following evening, Wednesday, November 4, Gurudev will lead “Unlock Happiness Within,” a meditation and wisdom masterclass at Patticheio Municipal Theatre in Limassol, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The masterclass will bring together people from diverse nationalities and backgrounds for guided meditation and practical insights into cultivating inner peace.

The November 4 event has witnessed an overwhelming public response, with tickets almost completely sold out well ahead of the event. The strong interest prompted The Art of Living Cyprus to arrange an additional gathering on November 3 at Parklane Resort.

Strengthening the cultural and spiritual ties between India and Cyprus

The visit carries special significance in the context of the longstanding friendship between India and Cyprus, two nations whose diplomatic, economic, defence, and cultural relations have strengthened considerably in recent years.

In June 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an official visit to Cyprus, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in more than two decades. He met Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, reaffirming cooperation in business, technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

On May 10, 2026, Prime Minister Modi visited The Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru, India, for celebrations marking Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s 70th birthday and 45 years of The Art of Living’s humanitarian service. During the occasion, reported to have drawn more than 100,000 attendees, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Dhyan Mandir meditation hall and acknowledged the organization’s humanitarian initiatives.

Later that month, from May 20 to 23, 2026, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides visited India. He met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi on May 22, and the two countries elevated their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership, further strengthening cooperation in areas including technology, education, and culture.

Gurudev’s longstanding connection with Cyprus

Gurudev’s upcoming visit builds upon his earlier engagement with the island. In September 2022, he visited Cyprus and conducted an evening of wisdom and guided meditation at the premises of the High Commission of India in Nicosia, bringing together members of the Indian community, Cypriot residents, and spiritual seekers.

His return represents another opportunity to strengthen cultural and spiritual connections between India and Cyprus, extending a message of peace, compassion, and human values to a wider audience.

Under Gurudev’s guidance, The Art of Living teachers and volunteers in Cyprus have conducted hundreds of programs and public events, including International Yoga Day celebrations in Paphos, Nicosia, Larnaca, and Limassol. Through yoga, meditation, and breathing practices, these initiatives have shared a message of peace, love, and well-being with thousands of people across the island.

Four decades of humanitarian service and global peace initiatives

As the founder of The Art of Living Foundation, established in 1981, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has spent over four decades championing global peace, emotional well-being, and self-discovery. The organization is active across more than 180 countries.

The foundation combines breathing techniques, meditation, and personal development programs with community development and humanitarian relief. Its initiatives include children’s education, women’s empowerment, prison rehabilitation, disaster relief, river restoration, water conservation, and sustainable agriculture.

Gurudev has also been involved in peace and reconciliation dialogues, including in Colombia. In recognition of his service, he received the Padma Vibhushan in 2016, India’s second-highest civilian honor.

Gurudev also led events marking the first United Nations-recognized World Meditation Day in December 2024. He delivered a keynote address and guided meditation at UN Headquarters in New York on December 20, ahead of the December 21 global observance. As per reports from The Art of Living, more than 12.7 million people worldwide participated in the global meditation activities on World Meditation Day.

Through his work and The Art of Living’s programs, Gurudev is credited by the organization with touching the lives of more than 800 million people worldwide. His work spans meditation, education, humanitarian relief, and peace-building across more than 180 countries.

Bringing inner peace and happiness to Cyprus

The visit comes as meditation, mental well-being, and meaningful human connection attract increasing attention worldwide. Through his teachings, Gurudev emphasizes that peace and happiness can be cultivated within each individual.

The two gatherings offer people across Cyprus a chance to experience this message firsthand while celebrating human values that transcend nationality, religion, and culture.
