Six dangerous vehicles recalls in Cyprus, TOM warns

Date:

According to TOM, the recalls concern vehicles identified through the European Union’s Safety Gate system. The system issues rapid alerts for dangerous non-food products across EU member states. The affected vehicles may pose risks of injury or fire.

Obligations for manufacturers and sellers

TOM called on manufacturers, authorised representatives, distributors, importers, and sellers who have placed or may have placed these vehicles on the Cypriot market to inform the Department immediately.

These economic operators must take all necessary measures to ensure the products are withdrawn, in line with national and EU legislation.

Guidance for consumers

Consumers who own the affected vehicles or motorcycles should contact the manufacturer, official representative, or distributor for instructions. Where necessary, TOM advises owners to stop using dangerous components and return them to the point of sale, if feasible, while also notifying the seller.

If an economic operator refuses to comply with consumer rights, TOM urges consumers to submit a written complaint through the Consumer Protection Service website.

Motorcycles

Honda motorcycles, model ACBR600R (approval numbers e4168/20130017800 and e4168/2013*00178), of unknown production period, are recalled due to fire and injury risks.

Passenger vehicles

Alfa Romeo Tonale MHEV and PHEV models are included under multiple approval numbers. Vehicles with specific VIN ranges were manufactured between 31 January 2023 and 19 July 2023, as well as between 7 February 2023 and 8 March 2023. Their use may lead to injuries.

Ford Ranger passenger vehicles manufactured between 1998 and 2002 are also listed, with TOM citing injury risks.

Bentley Bentayga Hybrid vehicles produced between 29 March 2023 and 7 November 2023, under model number e52007/461125*(4V), are recalled due to fire hazards.

Other vehicles

All batches of Addbike electric bicycles, including Family, Junior, Pro, and U-Cargo Lite models, are recalled due to potential injury risks.

The list also includes Renault Trucks D ZE and DWID E ZE models manufactured between 14 August 2023 and 17 February 2025. These vehicles may pose a fire risk, according to TOM.
