Six arrested overnight – one held for domestic violence charges

Cyprus police operations resulted in the arrest of six individuals overnight as authorities carried out targeted preventive policing operations across the island.

The arrests were linked to various offences, including illegal possession of drugs, domestic violence and unlawful stay within the territory of the Republic.

Hundreds of checks carried out

According to a Police statement, officers stopped 358 vehicles for inspection during the overnight operations and checked 440 individuals travelling in them.

Authorities also conducted 46 inspections of premises aimed at tackling delinquency and criminal activity, resulting in three reports.

Traffic offences and investigations

During traffic checks, Police issued 234 reports relating to various traffic violations, while 19 traffic-related cases are under investigation.

As part of the investigations, Police also detained 13 vehicles.

Among the traffic offences recorded, 38 cases involved speeding violations and five involved driving under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities also identified two suspected cases of driving under the influence of drugs following preliminary drug tests.

Police carried out 58 alcohol tests on drivers and five checks related to driving under the influence of drugs.

Operations to continue

Cyprus police operations continue daily with an increased police presence, targeted inspections and immediate operational action aimed at preventing and suppressing crime.

Police said the measures are intended to protect citizens and maintain public order.
