Six people were arrested during extensive overnight police operations, as officers carried out hundreds of checks targeting crime, public order and road safety across the island.
Police said the coordinated patrols focused on key locations in urban areas and were aimed at preventing serious crime, maintaining public order and strengthening public safety.
The six arrests involved offences including illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus and begging.
Hundreds of drivers and passengers checked
During the overnight police operations, officers stopped and checked 639 drivers and 241 passengers.
Police also carried out 45 checks at premises as part of efforts to tackle unlawful activity, resulting in 19 reports.
The operations form part of an increased police presence involving targeted checks and immediate operational action across the island.
More than 200 traffic offences reported
Traffic checks resulted in 210 reports for various road offences, while another nine suspected traffic violations are under investigation.
Speeding accounted for 72 of the reports.
Nine vehicles were also detained during the police checks.
Eight caught during alcohol checks
Officers conducted 145 alcohol tests during the operations, resulting in eight reports.
Police said operations aimed at preventing and combating crime are continuing daily through an enhanced presence, targeted checks and operational action designed to protect the public and maintain safety.
