The Cyprus Met Office has warned of possible showers in Cyprus this afternoon, mainly in mountainous and inland areas. According to its latest forecast, developing clouds are expected to bring isolated rain as the day progresses.
Today will begin mostly clear, though high cloud will gradually increase by midday. Winds will be light and variable, around 3 Beaufort, locally reaching moderate levels of 3 to 4 Beaufort in the afternoon. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 31°C inland, 28°C on the south and east coasts, 27°C on the remaining coasts, and 21°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, occasional high cloud will persist. Winds will shift mainly north-westerly to north-easterly, light at 2 to 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm. Minimum temperatures will drop to around 14°C inland, 17°C along the coast, and 11°C in the higher mountains.
On Friday, locally increased cloud is expected at times, which may bring isolated showers or a brief thunderstorm, particularly in the mountains and the north. Over the weekend, similar conditions will continue, with possible isolated showers in Cyprus in mountainous or inland regions.
Temperatures are expected to gradually fall through Sunday, returning close to seasonal averages.
