The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran’s elite military force, has said it does not consider a renewed war with the United States likely, despite ongoing diplomatic discussions and heightened regional tensions.
However, the IRGC stressed that it remains fully prepared for any potential escalation.
“The possibility of war is low due to the enemy’s weakness,” said Mohammad Akbarzadeh, a senior naval commander of the Revolutionary Guards, according to the Tasnim News Agency.
Military on high alert
Akbarzadeh added that Iranian armed forces remain on alert “with their weapons loaded”, warning they are ready to respond to any aggression.
He also issued a strongly worded statement, saying parts of the Gulf region could be turned into a “graveyard for aggressors” if Iran comes under attack.
Rhetoric comes amid diplomatic backdrop
The comments come as indirect diplomatic talks continue between Tehran and Washington, alongside ongoing regional instability.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that while they prefer to avoid direct conflict, they will respond forcefully to any military strike against the country.
The IRGC remains one of the most powerful institutions in Iran’s military and political structure, playing a key role in regional security strategy.
Tensions between Iran and the United States remain elevated, with both sides maintaining military readiness while avoiding direct confrontation.
