Citizens must show both individual and collective responsibility in managing water use, the Limassol Water Board (ΕΟΑ) said ahead of the upcoming Kataklysmos holiday and its traditional celebrations.
In a statement, the board strongly urged the public to act with restraint, avoiding unnecessary or excessive water consumptio- especially given the severe weather conditions currently affecting Cyprus, and the ongoing period of drought and water scarcity.
“Traditions can and should be upheld with respect for the environment and the broader needs of society, with social sensitivity toward the protection of our water resources,” the board added.
The statement emphasised that individual behaviour can significantly contribute to the collective effort to ensure sustainable and adequate water supplies. It further noted that, as summer approaches- a time of increased water demand- careful and responsible use is more important than ever.
