Resignations in SYRIZA – PASOK becomes main opposition party

Date:

Significant developments in Greece’s political landscape were marked today by the departure of Theodora Tzakri and Giota Poulou from SYRIZA’s Parliamentary Group.

Following these resignations, SYRIZA now holds 29 MPs, resulting in PASOK assuming the role of the main opposition party with 31 MPs.

Tzakri and Poulou did not elaborate further in their letters, stating only that they would continue their parliamentary work as independent MPs.

It is worth noting that both are closely associated with Stefanos Kasselakis, who is reportedly preparing to establish a new political party.
