The Koutrafas Residents Initiative, which includes landowners and friends of the area, has condemned the “unacceptable and large-scale” installation of solar parks, even on highly fertile agricultural land in the community of Koutrafas.
Calls for signatures and action
The initiative is collecting signatures to submit to the President of the Republic and the Speaker of the House, demanding an independent environmental study, legal protection for arable land, and transparency regarding those involved in the projects.
Support for green energy, with limits
The residents emphasised that they do not oppose green energy in principle. However, they reject the sacrifice of fertile land, local flora and fauna, the climate of the area, and groundwater resources for large commercial interests.
