Rare Egyptian vulture spotted in Paphos

A rare Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus) was photographed at the Department of Forests’ vulture feeding station in Agios Ioannis, Paphos.

According to a post by the Department of Forests, the Egyptian vulture sighting is considered particularly significant for the species’ presence on the island.

The bird is one of the region’s most distinctive birds of prey, making the recording a rare and notable observation.

The Department of Forests described the sighting as an encouraging indication for the species in Cyprus.

The sighting comes from a feeding station operated by the Department of Forests, which supports the conservation of vultures and provides food at designated locations.

The presence of the bird at the site offers further encouragement for efforts to monitor and protect the species in Cyprus.
