AKEL has backed a nationwide protest against high electricity prices scheduled for Saturday, joining Direct Democracy, the Ecologists Movement and the Animal Party in supporting the demonstration.
The organisers will gather at Eleftherias Square in Nicosia at 4pm before marching to the presidential palace to protest against the cost of electricity.
Free buses will operate from four cities to help people attend the demonstration.
Calls for strong participation
Direct Democracy leader Fidias Panayiotou previously called for strong participation in the protest, warning that a turnout of just 100 people would be disappointing.
The demonstration comes amid public concern over electricity costs in Cyprus, with the participating groups calling for action on the issue.
