President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides said on Monday that he hopes to hold another two or three meetings with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman before travelling to New York later this month for the United Nations General Assembly.
Christodoulides made the remarks during a meeting with the Mayor and members of the Morphou Municipal Council at the Presidential Palace.
Welcoming the delegation, the President said the meeting was important ahead of his visit to New York and his meetings with the Turkish Cypriot leader.
Another meeting on Wednesday
Christodoulides reminded the delegation that he is due to meet Erhürman again on Wednesday.
“I hope we will have another two or three meetings before we go to New York,” he said.
The President said he would brief the Morphou Municipal Council on developments and hear about its own plans.
“I will update you, you can also tell me what you are planning, and we can see how we move forward together,” Christodoulides concluded.
