The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, travels from Geneva to Brussels on Tuesday evening to participate in the European Council Summit scheduled for Thursday, March 20.
According to a press release issued by the Presidency, President Christodoulides will hold separate meetings with the heads of European institutions on Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday morning, he will take part in the deliberations of the European People’s Party (EPP) ahead of the European Council Summit.
EU leaders will convene to discuss migration, followed by the European Council Summit, which will include a video conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
At noon, the heads of state and government of the EU will attend a working lunch with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during which discussions will focus on multilateralism and the situation in the Middle East, it is noted.
In the afternoon, President Christodoulides will participate in the Euro Summit, which will address issues related to the EU economy and competitiveness.
A European Council discussion on defence issues will follow, along with the presentation of the White Paper.
The Summit will conclude with a working dinner, where EU leaders will discuss the Multiannual Financial Framework.
President Christodoulides will be accompanied in Brussels by Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, Director of the President’s Press Office Victoras Papadopoulos, and other officials. He is expected to return to Cyprus on Friday, March 21.
