Police preventive operations lead to arrests and traffic enforcement

Date:

Night patrols target crime and public safety

Police preventive operations continued last night across Cyprus, focusing on key urban areas to prevent serious crimes, protect citizens, and maintain public order.

During the operations, police arrested six individuals across Cyprus in connection with serious criminal and other offences. The charges included illegal stay in the Republic, illegal possession of property, failure to appear in court, and assault against a police officer.

Vehicle seizures and property checks

As part of traffic-related investigations, authorities impounded six vehicles. Additionally, police conducted inspections of 34 premises to prevent and suppress criminal behaviour proactively.

Road safety enforcement

On the road network, officers carried out over 350 checks, issuing more than 110 traffic violation reports. Among these, 33 involved speeding offences, and two drivers were found driving under the influence of narcotics.

Ongoing preventive strategy

The operations form part of a continuous and enhanced preventive plan by the Police, featuring increased presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational response across all districts. The goal remains the prevention of crime and the strengthening of public safety and citizen confidence.
