A case involving the theft of construction materials is currently under investigation by the Limassol CID, in cooperation with the Ayios Ioannis and Polemidia Police Stations.
The incident was reported on 19 August 2025 by a 33-year-old woman, owner of a contracting company. According to the complaint, between 11 and 18 August, a total of 52 boxes of ceramic tiles and 40 packs of adhesive, valued at €2,500, were stolen from a house under renovation in Kato Polemidia.
On 21 August, the same complainant reported a second theft from the same property. This time, 30 more packs of adhesive were taken, with an estimated value of €350.
Crucially, one of the stolen packs had a GPS tracking device (AirTag) hidden inside. That same day, the woman notified the police that the tracker had pinged a location in Limassol. Officers from the CID and Polemidia Station responded to the area, where they identified a property owned by a 45-year-old man.
With the owner’s written consent, a search was conducted at the premises. Police found 109 ceramic tiles and 37 packs of adhesive of various brands. The GPS tracking device was located in one of the adhesive packs.
The 45-year-old man was arrested for the offence of unlawful possession of property and for handling stolen goods, as eight of the adhesive packs were identified by the complainant. He was unable to provide satisfactory explanations for the origin of the remaining items.
Police investigations are ongoing.
