Widespread overnight police presence
Police arrests were made overnight as authorities carried out coordinated operations across urban areas, aiming to prevent serious crime, maintain public order, and strengthen public safety.
Organised patrols were deployed at key locations nationwide, reflecting an intensified police presence.
Eight arrests for various offences
As part of the operations, eight individuals were arrested in connection with a range of offences, including conspiracy to commit a felony, arson, unlawful possession of property, public intoxication, causing disturbance, assaulting police officers, and illegal stay in the Republic.
Hundreds of checks conducted
During the night, police stopped 602 vehicles and checked a total of 749 drivers and passengers.
In addition, 22 premises were inspected, leading to four reports related to violations of operating licence conditions.
Traffic violations and alcohol checks
Traffic enforcement checks resulted in 369 reports for various violations, with 239 cases involving excessive speeding.
A total of 91 alcohol tests were carried out, with seven drivers found to be over the limit. Two individuals also tested positive in preliminary drug tests.
Authorities further detained seven vehicles as part of ongoing investigations.
Daily operations to continue
Police stated that coordinated operations will continue on a daily basis, with enhanced presence, targeted checks, and immediate response measures.
The aim remains to boost public safety, protect citizens, and maintain law and order.
