Police arrest 7 in nighttime operations

Cyprus Police continued targeted preventive operations throughout last night with enhanced presence at key urban points, aiming to prevent serious crimes, protect citizens, and ensure public order.

These efforts form part of a broad, ongoing, intensified preventive plan across all districts featuring increased visibility, targeted controls, and swift responses. During the operations, police stopped 371 vehicles for checks, inspected 214 passengers aboard them, and conducted 21 premises inspections to deter and suppress violations.

Arrest details

Police arrested seven individuals for the following offenses: one person for driving under the influence of alcohol; one for possessing an offensive weapon; one for illegal possession of property and narcotics; one for theft; one for failure to appear before court; one for exceeding speed limits; one for illegal possession of property. All arrests occurred within the framework of these proactive urban patrols.

Traffic violations

Traffic controls resulted in 133 complaints for various infractions, four of which involved driving under alcohol influence out of 209 alcohol tests performed on drivers.

Six vehicles were impounded during investigations into traffic offenses.
