A new independent true crime series explores the case of Cyprus’ first serial killer, Orestis, through the accounts of people directly connected to the investigation.
The documentary, titled Pleiades, has premiered on the ERTFLIX streaming platform and is being promoted on social media with a powerful testimony from the man who first discovered a body in an abandoned mine shaft.
Personal testimonies at the centre
The documentary examines how different individuals experienced the country’s most shocking criminal investigation, focusing on personal accounts and the human impact of the case.
One of the most emotional moments features the witness who first identified signs of a body inside the abandoned mine shaft at Mitsero. That discovery marked the beginning of an investigation that shocked Cyprus and exposed the crimes of the country’s first convicted serial killer, known as “Orestis”.
Independent production
The documentary is directed by Andreas Seitanis, while the research was carried out by Paris Prokopiou and Michalis Terzis.
The production aims to present the events through the experiences of those who lived them, offering a human perspective on one of the darkest chapters in Cyprus’ criminal history.
