Phedonos case: Aristodemou names other people involved

Date:

Businessman Theodoros Aristodimou has provided a statement to police regarding the investigation into Paphos Mayor, Phedonas Phedonos.

Speaking on “Mesimeri kai Kati“, Aristodimou said: “I have given a statement, but I cannot reveal its content. Since I have testified, I hope the police will act and justice will finally be served in this country.”

When asked whether he submitted evidence or only his testimony, he replied: “My testimony was sufficient.”

Police show renewed interest in case

Aristodimou added that “at this moment, I believe the police show real interest in the case, but it saddens me that for so many years no one asked me what happened.” He also confirmed that other individuals were aware of the situation, whom he mentioned in his statement.

Meanwhile, authorities continue an ex officio investigation into Mayor Phedonos regarding alleged abuse of a woman, specifically his spouse, in Paphos.

Authorities continue evaluation of information

Police spokesperson Vyronas Vyronos stated that the Cyprus Police are fully evaluating all information relating to the Paphos mayor investigation. “All information is being assessed, and any necessary actions will be taken. The investigation continues,” he added.

At the same time, the Ministry of Interior awaits an official response from the police to determine its next steps, including whether sufficient grounds exist regarding the alleged assault. If the police confirm concerns about Mayor Phedonos, the Ministry will consult the Law Office, as the government’s legal advisor, to decide whether the mayor should be suspended.

Conversely, if the police find no issues regarding the mayor, the Ministry of Interior will not seek legal advice and will not take any measures, including suspension.
