Cyprus election candidates are being submitted today, Wednesday, for the parliamentary elections scheduled for 24 May 2026.
The nomination process is taking place between 9:00 and 12:30 across all electoral districts.
Record number of candidates
Approximately 750 candidates are contesting the 56 seats in the new House of Representatives, most of them representing 18 political parties.
This marks a record figure, surpassing the 659 candidates who ran in the 2021 parliamentary elections.
Submission locations across districts
For the Nicosia electoral district, nominations are being filed at the ceremony hall of the Archangel Cultural Foundation of Kykkos Monastery.
In Limassol, the process is taking place at the District Administration offices, while in Larnaca and Paphos submissions are being made at their respective district administration offices.
For the Famagusta district, nominations are submitted at the District Administration offices in Paralimni, while for Kyrenia, the process is held at the Ministry of Finance’s multi-purpose hall.
Religious group representatives included
Alongside parliamentary candidates, nominations are also being submitted today for representatives of the Maronite, Armenian, and Latin religious groups.
These are being filed at the office of the Director General of the Ministry of Interior in Nicosia.
