Paris to continue efforts for release of French-Israeli hostages

Date:

France will persist in its efforts to secure the release of two French-Israeli citizens held hostage by Hamas, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated in an interview with BFM TV.

Barrot emphasised that France would continue to work tirelessly until their release was achieved. He also noted that the French authorities had no information about the hostages’ health conditions or the circumstances of their detention.

Hamas released three Israeli hostages on Sunday, while Israel freed 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the first day of a truce agreement. The ceasefire, which paused a 15-month conflict that has devastated Gaza and reignited tensions in the Middle East, marked a significant development.

The French-Israeli hostages, Ofer Calderon and Ohad Yahalomi, are expected to be among the 33 hostages to be released during the initial phase of the truce agreed upon by Hamas and Israel.
