Paphos: Worker trapped after machinery overturns at construction site

Four workers were injured in a workplace accident on Thursday morning after a road construction machine overturned during repair works near the Marathounta cemetery.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident happened at around 10:30 am while four employees of a company were carrying out road surface repair works using road construction equipment.

Worker trapped inside machinery

Under circumstances that remain under investigation, the machine overturned during the works.

Three of the workers managed to exit the machinery and were transported to Paphos General Hospital for medical examinations.

The fourth worker became trapped inside the machine and was freed with the assistance of the Fire Service. He was also taken to Paphos General Hospital for further checks.

Authorities investigate incident

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the Marathounta workplace accident are continuing.

Members of the Police, the Paphos District Administration and the Labour Inspection Department are involved in examining the incident.
