Paphos: Drunk driver’s car catches fire after crash

Date:

A 25-year-old man without a driving licence and heavily under the influence of alcohol caused a dramatic crash last night in Paphos.

Just after 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, the 25-year-old lost control of his car on a Paphos road.

The vehicle veered right, slammed into a legally parked car, and pushed it into a second parked vehicle.

The driver’s car then mounted the pavement and burst into flames at the front.

Fire Service crews rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

Police conducted an alcohol test: the driver registered 76μg – more than three times the legal limit of 22μg.

Officers also discovered:

  • He has no driving licence
  • The car had no insurance

The 25-year-old was taken by ambulance to hospital for observation.

Paphos Traffic Police continue to investigate the incident.
