Police are investigating an explosion from a car bomb targeting a 56-year-old man in Paphos early on Wednesday, marking the second time he has been targeted in less than three months.
The explosion occurred at around 3:15am in a parked vehicle on Santorinis Street.
The Paphos car bomb caused extensive damage to the 56-year-old’s vehicle, while a second vehicle was also damaged in the blast.
Improvised explosive device used
Examinations carried out at the scene determined that the explosion was caused by a low-powered improvised explosive device.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Butcher’s shop targeted in May
The 56-year-old was previously targeted on 28 May, when an explosion occurred outside the butcher’s shop he owns.
In that incident, unknown individuals placed an explosive device near the front of the shop, causing extensive damage.
Police are now investigating the latest Paphos car bomb after the man’s vehicle became the second target linked to him in less than three months.
