Municipalities, local organisations, and businesses across Cyprus are stepping up to support vulnerable households and structures in the spirit of Easter social solidarity.
Nicosia supports elderly residents
On 7 April, Aphrostrom donated new mattresses, bedding, and essential items worth €40,000 to the Aglantzia Elderly Home, in the presence of Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Proutzos and local officials. The donation symbolically reflects Easter values of generosity, love, and solidarity, and marks the beginning of an ongoing partnership aimed at improving daily life for residents.
Limassol spreads festive cheer
The Limassol Social Grocery distributed around 350 Easter packages on Holy Tuesday to residents in need, ensuring basic provisions for their festive tables. Mayor Yiannis Armeftis praised the city’s long-standing tradition of solidarity, thanking volunteers and sponsors for their contributions.
EKYSY supports struggling families
The local EKYSY branch in Kaimakli distributed “packages of love” on 7 April to over 70 families facing severe financial difficulties. This initiative, carried out for 21 consecutive years, gains special significance this year due to the growing impact of economic hardship.
Larnaca continues support
The Larnaca Social Grocery will hold its annual Easter food distribution on 9 April from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., with thanks extended to producers, suppliers, and volunteers, as well as to HFM for their generous Easter donation to the project.
Private sector contributes
Wolt delivered 50 Easter packages, including food items, candles, and festive treats, to the Cyprus Red Cross, reinforcing efforts to support less privileged families. The initiative reflects Wolt’s commitment to aiding local communities, particularly during festive periods that highlight solidarity and giving.
