The Olympic Flame for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Games landed at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Airport on Thursday evening on a special flight from Athens.
The Italian Olympic Committee delegation, led by organising committee president Giovanni Malagò and accompanied by tennis Olympic medallist Jasmine Paolini, immediately transferred the flame to the Quirinal Palace where President Sergio Mattarella welcomed them.
Today, Friday 5 December an official ceremony will take place at the presidential palace with IOC President Kirsty Coventry and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in attendance.
After the ceremony, the flame will begin its long journey across Italian towns and villages, reaching Cortina d’Ampezzo on 26 January 2026 and Milan on 5 February 2026 for the Opening Ceremony.
