An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale was felt around 11:00 a.m. in nearly all districts of Cyprus.
According to a statement from the Department of Geological Survey, at 11:09 a.m., a 5.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded by the seismological network.
The earthquake’s epicentre was in the sea, 110 kilometres northwest of Polis Chrysochous, with a focal depth of 32 kilometres. It was strongly felt along the southern coast of Turkey, significantly in the districts of Nicosia, Paphos, Kyrenia, and Limassol, and noticeably across the rest of Cyprus.
The phenomenon is being monitored by the Seismological Centre of the Department of Geological Survey.
