Community Democracy Party (KKT/TDP) chairman Zeki Çeler declared Wednesday there is a “very high probability” of early parliamentary elections in the occupied north.
Speaking on T TV, Çeler claimed recent arrests, detentions and public statements are part of the ruling UBP-DP-YDP coalition’s pre-election strategy.
“‘Prime Minister” Üstel is trying to shed all the baggage before the vote. He has reached a point where he can turn any loss into political gain. “That’s why elections are imminent,” he said.
Economic crisis deepens
Çeler highlighted a severe financial crunch, revealing interest payments alone now total 7 billion TL in the north’s budget.
CTP as kingmaker
The opposition leader insisted his party has growing societal influence and cannot be excluded from any future coalition.
“We continue on the path of the gentlemen’s agreement (cooperation with the Republican Turkish Party – CTP). Lack of alliances is a structural obstacle, but collaboration around the common government manifesto announced during the “‘presidentials’ remains possible,” he added.
No official date has been set, but political tension is rising fast.
