Legal challenge in Limassol dismissed
A legal objection filed against a female parliamentary candidate in Limassol ahead of the upcoming elections in Cyprus has been rejected, officials confirmed.
The statement was made by the Director General of the Ministry of Interior and Chief Returning Officer Elikkos Elia, who said the objection was examined in cooperation with the Election Officer and the Law Office.
The case involved a candidate running in the parliamentary race in Limassol, but authorities confirmed that the objection did not stand.
753 candidates remain in the race
Elia noted that the total number of candidates for the Cyprus elections remains unchanged at 753 following the decision.
He added that preparations for the electoral process are continuing as planned, with ballot printing expected to begin immediately in cooperation with the State Printing Office.
Election preparations intensify
Authorities confirmed that polling preparations are in their final stages ahead of the Cyprus elections, scheduled for 24 May.
By Monday, presiding officers and polling station staff will be officially notified of their duties, while 1,200 polling stations will be set up across the country.
The Ministry of Interior will also issue detailed instructions and training sessions for election officials to ensure the smooth running of the vote.
Elia stressed that all procedures are being implemented to guarantee an orderly and successful electoral process.
With administrative preparations accelerating, election authorities say the focus remains on ensuring efficiency, transparency and full operational readiness ahead of election day.
