Nicosia parking accident leaves 63-year-old critical

A Nicosia parking accident has left a 63-year-old man hospitalised in extremely critical condition after he attempted to help a woman park her vehicle.

According to police, the man was injured yesterday morning during a traffic incident at a shopping centre car park in Nicosia.

At around 11:30am, the 63-year-old reportedly offered assistance to a female driver who was attempting to park her car. As he tried to enter the vehicle, and under circumstances still under investigation, the car moved suddenly.

The open driver’s door struck a nearby parked vehicle and, as it swung back, trapped the man by the neck.

Man intubated and in intensive care

The injured man was transported by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was intubated and admitted to the intensive care unit.

Doctors describe his condition as extremely critical.

Police investigation ongoing

Nicosia Traffic Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances of the incident.
