The Deputy Chief of the National Guard, Lt. Gen. Neophytos Pachoulides, revealed today that the preliminary investigation into the recent helicopter incident suggests human error caused by pressure during a demanding training scenario.
Speaking before the House Control Committee, Pachoulides said:
“Two separate investigations are underway – a military inquiry and an internal review. The initial findings point to human error due to stress in a complex exercise. A possible mechanical fault is also being examined.”
The final report is expected by the end of 2025.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which involved the dropping of armament equipment during a routine flight over Paphos.
